Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony is planning to launch three new Xperia Z5 series models at upcoming IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2015 and not two as previously reported in the media.
A tipster has leaked a slew of alleged Sony Xperia Z5 series smartphones images to technology blog Phone Arena, almost confirming the existence of the three device variants. It is learnt that Sony will unveil original model Xperia Z5 with 5.2-inch full HD (1920x1080) display, a smaller variant with 4.6-inch HD (1280x720p) screen dubbed as Xperia Z5 Compact and an ultra high-end model tipped as Xperia Z5 Premium with 5.5-inch 4K (3840 X 2160) display, boasting a staggering pixel density close to 808 ppi (pixels per inch).
In the pictures, we see one Gold-hued smartphone in hand, believed to be the top-end Xperia Z5 Premium and two other handsets, one emerald green and another black, understood to be the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact.
Pictures of the yellow-metal model show the presence of elongated silver hued finger-print sensor at the center of metal frame. The dedicated camera button and the volume rockers have been relegated to the bottom. [View the pictures of Xperia Z5 models, HERE]
As per the sources, all three Xperia Z5 models will house almost similar internal hardware such as 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 810 (probably v2.1), finger-print sensor and 32GB inbuilt memory. It is believed that all the devices will come with water-proof and dust-resistant certification like their predecessors.
Sony has been tipped to upgrade the camera to 23MP in Xperia Z5 series after a gap of two years. The Japanese firm had kept 20.7mp camera unchanged since Z1 series to Z4 series.
If the Xperia Z5 Premium turns out to be true, then Sony will be world's first company to launch a 4K resolution phone. Previous generation model Xperia Z3+ (aka Z4 in Japan) was panned by critics and fans alike as its features were a moderate upgrade over its predecessor (Z3), but with Xperia Z5 Premium, the company will set a new precedence in flagships smartphones category and raise the bar for rivals in the industry.
