The much-hyped Sony Xperia Z4 is nowhere to be seen despite rumours that it would be unveiled at the concluded tech events - CES 2015 and MWC 2015. The release date of the device has been reportedly pushed to later this year, which could disappoint Sony fans.
Sony is yet to announce the release date of its flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, but a report by PCAdvisor has claimed that it would be unveiled at upcoming IFA 2015 to be held between 4 and 9 September.
Interestingly, photo reportedly shot from rear camera of the Sony Xperia Z4 has appeared online. The photo shot from purported Sony's flagship device has been uploaded on photo hosting site Esato (via Tech Radar) with model number Sony E6553 and the EXIF data suggests that it is taken from a device with a 20.7MP sensor.
It may be mentioned that the Xperia Z3 also has a 20.7MP rear camera, so fans expecting camera upgrade in the upcoming next-generation device could be left disappointed by the latest report on the device's camera specifications.
According to several reports that have appeared so far, the Sony Xperia Z4 will come with features like 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch screen with 1440 x 2560px Triluminos display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Android 5.0 Lollipop, 20.7MP main camera and 4.8MP front snapper, 32GB internal memory and 4GB RAM, and 3420 mAh battery. It is also expected to have Qi Wireless Charging, IP68 water and dust proof certification, and LTE Cat 9 connectivity features.
Sony has not revealed any information about its upcoming next-generation smartphone but PCAdvisor has claimed in a report that it could come with a price tag of around £599, arguing that the Xperia Z4 might come with lots of feature upgrades over its predecessor. It may be mentioned that the Xperia Z2 was priced £599 when it was launched but its successor, the Xperia Z3 was priced at £549 owing to the fact that there was no major change from its predecessor.
There were reports doing the rounds that Sony might kill its smartphone in its effort to boost its profit margin by concentrating on games but Tim Harrison, Vice President of Global Communications and PR, Sony, confirmed the existence of the Xperia Z4 to TrustedReviews.
"Z4 is the next-generation of product that we'll be announcing. No, we haven't [moved to a more traditional 12 month product cycle]. As a general rule you will see some adjustment to the way we phase our products, but we're certainly not going to offer any specific details as to when we are going to bring our next products, beyond these, at this stage," he told the website.
