Sony Xperia Z3 to Debut in India this Week

Japanese consumer electronics giant, Sony is reportedly launching the company's new flagship smartphone Xperia Z3 in India this week.

The company has begun sending out press invites to select media houses for the new Xperia series smartphone launch event on 25 September in New Delhi.

"We are pleased to invite you to experience the next level in smartphone technologies"- says the invite.

Though it does not specify the smartphone model, considering the recent unveiling of Xperia Z3 series devices at IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2014 at Germany, logical intuition dictates that the company is more likely to release the aforementioned new handsets in India this month.

Rivals Samsung, Motorola, HTC and Apple are also poised to launch the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Note 4, Moto X (Gen 2.), Moto 360, Desire 820 and iPhone 6 series devices respectively soon in India.

The Sony flagship smartphone, Xperia Z3 resembles its predecessor in terms of outlook and packs pretty much the same internal hardware sans a couple of key features. It boasts of thinner body (1mm slimmer than Z2) with curved corners and an Aluminium frame on the edge.

Under the hood, the clock rate of Snapdragon 801 series processor has been boosted to 2.5GHz. It is aptly backed by 3GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 128GB) and a high-capacity 3,100 mAh battery.

On the camera front, it boasts of 20.7 megapixel camera (with auto-focus, Exmor RS sensor, pulsed LED flash, 4K resolution video recording) and 2.2-megapixel snapper on the front.

The only difference between Z2 and Z3 is that the latter boasts of IP65/IP68 water and dust resistant certifications, the highest rating in the smartphone industry.

Users can also take the new Sony phone for a dip in the swimming pool (or any other water-body), 1.5 meter (five feet) under water for close to 30 minutes, provided all the open ports are closed by the flaps provided in the package.

Xperia Z3 also comes with PlayStation certification, enabling users to use their smartphone as a controller on PS4 console and can also play games on the smartphone as well.

Beside Xperia Z3, we are not sure whether Sony would launch the mini flagship model Xperia Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet as well as SmartWatch 3 and smart fitness-track bands in the upcoming event [more information on devices' specifications, click HERE]. We just have to wait till 25 September, when the company officially announces the availability of the devices.
