The new colour variants of Sony's high-end Xperia Z smartphone are now available at O2 for purchase. The retail store is offering the device in exclusive purple and black colours.
The 5-inch smartphone which made its global debut at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 was in the news for its sudden death issue earlier this week. The company responded to the complaints quickly and rolled out an update top fix the problem.
Regarding its specifications, Xperia Z comes with a full HD capacitive touchscreen display with 1920x1080 pixel resolution and is powered by a quad core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and features a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 2.2-megapixel camera on the front.
The smartphone supports WIFI, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE. It comes with 2GB RAM and internal storage of 16GB which is expandable up to 32GB through a microSD card. It also comes with IP57 certification for dust and water resistance. In March, Xperia Z was launched in India for ₹38,990.
The company has received huge response from consumers during the initial sales of Xperia Z. The first batch of Xperia Z units was reportedly sold out in two hours of its release.
Sony's market share in the last quarter was up at 1.7 percent, while Apple and Samsung's mobile phone share stood at 9.2 percent and 22.7 percent, respectively, according to a Gartner report.
