Sony had commenced the Xperia Beta Program to invite fans to test Android Nougat software on Xperia X Performance in select regions way back in August. But registered users never received the preview firmware, until now.
Sony has begun sending emails to the registered Xperia X Performance owners that the new Android 7.0 Nougat developer preview will be rolled out to them in the next 48 hours via OTA (Over-The-Air).

For those unaware, Xperia Beta Program is a part of Sony's goodwill initiative to open communication between Sony device users and the software developers so that company will be able to get feedback and iron out any glitches to improve the firmware before it is released to the public en masse.
If history is any indication, Sony is expected to roll-out Android Nougat to Xperia X Performance by the end of December 2016.
Android Nougat brings multi-window options, bundled notification, improved battery optimisation and also numerous other value-added features to enhance user experience.
