Japanese consumer electronics major Sony is all set to launch a new mid-range smartphone Xperia M4 Aqua in India on 26 May.
To provide better perspective on the upcoming Sony smartphone, we have listed key attributes, which users can use to make an informed decision whether to buy Xperia M4 Aqua or not.
Waterproof Certifications:
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua comes with the highest IP (Ingress Protection) rating in a smartphone category – IP65/68. This is a standard that measures a device's resistance levels to dust (IP65) and water (IP68 – both for splashes and submersion).
This means users can take the phone for a dip in the swimming pool (or any other fresh water-body) up to five feet (1.5 metre) under water for close to 30 minutes, provided that the phone's ports are covered by the flaps that come with the package.
64-bit class SoC (System on Chip):
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua ships with the second generation 64-bit class based Snapdragon 615 Octa-core SoC (System on Chip), manufactured by the industry leader, Qualcomm.
One advantage of having 64-bit processor is that the phone performance and RAM management will more be optimised and efficiently used among the apps. Users are less likely to face lag during multi-tasking.
Secondly, new Android applications will be rolled out starting this year with 64-bit architecture compliant codes, making Xiaomi Mi 4i future-proof.
Snapdragon 615 chipset comes with H.265/High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), which enables in faster computational operations.
It will be aptly backed by Adreno 405 graphics engine and 2GB DDR3 RAM.
Good Battery Back-up:
Xperia M4 Aqua will ship with a 2,400mAh battery, which can run the phone for up to 13 hours and 17 minutes talk time and close to 779 hours (that's 32 days) under standby mode.
Though it may sound a little under-powered, the phone's HD display won't be hogging too much energy unlike full HD (1,920x1,080p) or QHD (2,560x1,440p) screen seen in high-end smartphones.
Users can also play video or listen to music for straight for up to seven hours and 65 hours respectively.
Camera:
Sony's has been instrumental in bringing top-notch cameras on not just on its Xperia phones, but also on popular MNC brands like Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi. Mid-range Xperia M4 Aqua too houses state-of-art 13mp with proprietary Sony Exmor RS sensor, LED flash, HDR, full HD video recording, image stabiliser, Red-eye reduction and many more features.
And on the front, it comes packed with a 5mp wide-angle camera enough to capture a decent selfie.
4G-LTE:
With 4G-LTE connectivity support, users can enjoy super-speed internet with 150/50mbps download/upload speed.
If Sony retails the Xperia M4 Aqua with an aggressive price tag, it will certainly give a stiff challenge to popular brands like Xiaomi Mi 4i, Micromax Yu Yureka, Motorola Moto G (2 Gen) and the recently released Meizu M1 Note and ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini.
