Sony Mobile Communications on Tuesday announced the official rollout of its Sony Xperia Ion in India at a retail price of ₹36,999.
Featuring Android 4.0, Sony's new flagship smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and sports a 4.6-inch TFT capacitive touch display. There's also a 12.1-megapixel rear camera allowing users to watch, share and communicate on a 133.0 x 68.0 x 10.6 mm display. The NFC enabled smartphone, which is available in red and black color variants, comes with 16GB internal memory and 1GB RAM.
First heard at the Consumer Electronics Show in January this year, the Xperia Ion was initially launched in US and Middle East earlier in this month.

Sony, the electronics giant has tied-up with Airtel to endow Xperia Ion customers with exclusive offers. With every purchase of Xperia Ion, the customer will get 500MB of free 3G data for a period of three months and 200 minutes of mobile TV for two months.
The company is also expected to launch its Xperia tipo and rapid charger known as "Tarzan" for Xperia series in the country soon.
