For the past couple of weeks, Sony has been releasing the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA (Over-The-Air) update to select Xperia Z series phones. Now, the company has rolled out the same firmware to Xperia C3.
The new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (build number: 19.4.A.0.182) has been made available to Xperia C3 series, both the single-SIM (D2533) and dual-SIM (D2502) models in all major regions across the world, reported Xperia Blog.
How to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update on Sony Xperia C3 Series via OTA
Xperia C3 series device owners getting the update notifications need to select "Yes, Download" option. After downloading, select "Install now". The phone will restart automatically and the OS will be updated to the new version.
We would like to remind our readers that the roll-out process is carried out in phases, so it will take some time to reach all corners of the world.
Until then, users can check for the OTA update manually by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System update' >> 'Check Now'.
The new OS update is said to bring additional customisation options like silent modes including new alert system, camera improvements with superior auto-mode focus, enhanced enterprise support, Xperia in Business features for work and option to take selfie via SmartWear. That means users can use Sony's SmartWatch 3 as a remote shutter button.
However, there is no word whether Sony has included Stagefright bug-fix in this new OS firmware. Stay tuned for more updates.
