Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony is reportedly planning to launch two high-end 5.0-inch Xperia smartphones and another smaller handset with superior specs.
Technology website Phone Arena citing an informant has revealed that Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai is apparently working out plans to set in motion his pet dream project to launch two 5.0-inch smartphones - a Walkman music centric smartphone with Cyber-shot camera and a smaller high-end smartphone to challenge Apple iPhone.
The website further revealed that the Cyber-shot camera based Xperia smartphone will pack one of the best camera technologies similar to Nokia's Pureview 808 smartphone's Carl Zeiss lens.
The source also revealed that the another Xperia smartphone would be a music centric handset and it is expected to pack an integrated amplifier chip as seen in the Sony Walkman music player series. It is also pegged to feature high-end specs as well.
Phone Arena claimed that the third speculated smartphone will have a smaller physical form and will pack Cyber-shot camera along with high-end features to directly compete with Apple's next generation iPhone which is speculated to launch in July this year.
All the three speculated Sony smartphones are expeccted to be launched in the third financial quarter of this year.
Neither CEO Kazuo Hirai nor other Sony officials has come forward to confirm the speculations of the fanciful feature-rich smartphones.
Sony's recently released Xperia Z smartphone packs one of the industry's most advanced camera. It's 13-megapixel main camera comes with Sony's exclusive digital camera technology - Exmor RS image sensor for HDR (High Dynamic Range) video capture. It also sports a superior full HD display and is currently rated among the top smartphones of the year.
