Ever since Sony showcased its Smartwatch 3 and Smartband at IFA, 2014, it received a lot of attention from the Indian wearable lovers. But the company maintained silence for a long period of time.
Finally, it has listed both the products on its official Indian website with a price tag of Rs.19,990 for the Smartwatch 3 and Rs.12,990 for the SmartBand. Though the pricing appears a bit steep, Indian e-commerce websites like Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal may offer these at decent discounts.
The Sony Smartwatch 3 features a 1.6-inch rectangular colour LCD display with a resolution of 320x320 pixels. The display is capable of recognising and responding accordingly to users' touch. The Sony Smartwatch 3 comes powered by a 1.2GHz processor and packs in 512MB worth RAM and 4GB of internal memory.
The Smartwatch runs on Android Wear platform and is equipped with essential wearable sensors like accelerometer, compass and gyro sensor. The Smartwatch 3 comes with IP68 certification, which means the wearable is capable to resisting water and dust. It features a 420 mAh battery that would last for two days for normal use and four days in standby mode.
The Sony SmartBand Talk is quite different is specification and design from the Smartwatch 3. Sporting a rounded design, the Smartband boasts a 1.4-inch e-ink screen with 296x128 pixels of resolution. The e-ink screens consume less power and also cause less strain to the eyes than the LCD TFT based screens.
The SmartBand packs an ARM Cortex M4 32 bit processor and weighs only 24g including the band. The superlight wearable band has also passed IP68 certification and features a microphone, wideband speech/speaker for making calls. It also features NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity options.
The SmartBand is powered by a 65 mAh battery which allows users to get a claimed talktime of 1 hour and a standby life of three days.
