Sony already has an extensive line-up of budget smartphones and it is going to be expanded further. A new smartphone has just popped up in the wild, channeling great focus on the front camera.
According to the popular mobile tipster, Upleaks, the handset is reportedly called Sony Xperia Cosmos and will feature mid-range specs and a wide-angle front camera with flash.
The leaked details were accompanied by two snapshots, which are apparently for the unannounced handset from Sony. If the rumours are true, Xperia Cosmos will come pre-loaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is currently rolled out to Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact smartphones. The handset is also rumoured to feature a front LED flash.
By the looks of it, Sony has trimmed down the bezels compared to other mid-rangers in the Xperia line-up. Other details of the phone, such as the rear-camera and screen size with resolution, remain unknown at the moment. Upleaks also revealed that the smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek processor.

If Sony Cosmos is actually in the books, it will likely succeed the company's Xperia C3 smartphone, which was launched in July last year as a great selfie phone. The C3 featured a 5mp wide-angle front camera with LED flash, 5.5-inch HD display and a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Once the Xperia Cosmos releases, it will be interesting to see if it will be seen in more markets than Xperia C3, which was mainly targeted towards Asian markets. Effective pricing of the new Xperia phone will be an important selling point for Sony. The previous Xperia C3 was launched in India for ₹23,990 and it is currently available for around ₹19,000 on Flipkart and Snapdeal.
