The music rights of superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film "Kochadaiyaan" has been acquired by Sony Music entertainment.
Academy awards winner AR Rahman has composed the music and Vairamuthu wrote the lyrics.
"We are extremely excited to be associated with one of the biggest projects that not only appeals to the audiences in the south but to fans all over the world. With such an incredible star cast and India's best music director the movie positions itself to be a wholesome entertainer. This is a very special project for us and we will weave in innovative marketing elements into the campaign to connect with the youth and the fans at large!" said Ashok Parwani, Associate Director - Marketing at Sony Music Entertainment.
Interestingly, Rajinikanth has given his voice for a song which is said to be a philosophical themed song. This is the second time the actor has rendered his voice for a film.
The much-awaited movie is directed by none other than Rajini's daughter Soundarya R Ashwin and produced by Sunil Lulla.
Featuring Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Jackie Shroff among others, the movie is set to release in December though the date is not yet confirmed. There are reports suggesting that the multilingual film will be released on the auspicious date 12.12.12 (December 12, 2012) which happens to be Rajini's birthday.
The makers are planning a grand premiere of the movie in three Indian cities - Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad, and in Japan. It is also reported that the actor will visit Japan, where he has a huge fan following, for the movie premiere.
Apparently, the actor is learning Japanese in a bid to communicate and build rapport with the huge fans in Japan.
"He won't be able to dub his own lines in the Japanese version of "Kochadaiyaan" but he'd be able to converse with his fans," a source said.
