After Jackie Shroff's "Hero" remake, Anil Kapoor and Amrita Singh's 1986 film "Chameli Ki Shaadi" is in talks to be remade soon. It has been reported that the cult comedy will be remade starring Sonakshi Sinha in Amrita's role.
Director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who directed "Lucky – No Time For Love", are reportedly going to make this film with Sonakshi. "Talks are on with Sonakshi with whom we have worked earlier in 'Dabangg' (2010), her debut film. We hope to make an official announcement in another four-five days," Sapru told Mid-Day.
Both directors have worked with the "Tevar" actress in Salman Khan's film as choreographers.
"Chameli's personality has a desi edge, and only Sonakshi can play the character to perfection. We are keen to have her on board," a source told the daily.
The insider also talked about the remake's storyline. "The story of the film is relevant even in today's time. Our society still does not approve of inter-caste alliances; many relationships are throttled due to caste and class distinction. The remake will focus on love in the face of such challenges," the source said.
Meanwhile, Sonakshi is shooting for AR Murugadoss' "Akira", which is a remake of the 2011 Tamil film "Mouna Guru". The actress will appear in another action-packed movie, "Force 2", opposite John Abraham.
