The makers of the Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam's superhit "OK Kanmani" have reportedly decided to cast Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur as the lead pair in the flick. Earlier, it had been learnt that Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan had agreed to play the lead roles, but they apparently opted out of the project due to unavailability of dates, reported DNA.
While Alia is busy with "Shaandaar", "Udta Punjab", "Kapoor & Sons" and has also signed Karan Johar's "Shuddhi" and Ayan Mukherji's next with Ranbir Kapoor, Varun has "Dilwale" and "Dishoom" to wrap up before he begins shooting for "Shuddhi".
The Hindi remake will be directed by "Kill Dil" director Shaad Ali. Sonakshi, who has "Akira" and "Force 2" lined up, has reportedly given her nod to Shaad's film.
If the deal is sealed, this would be the first time the "Dabangg" actress will be sharing screen space with Aditya Roy Kapur.
The Tamil film, "OK Kanmani", released in April and it turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2015 so far.
Featuring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in the lead roles, the story of "OK Kanmani" revolves around the lovebirds (played by Salmaan and Nithya) who fall in love but are reluctant to get married.
