It's been barely two days since the new Nexus 5 went on sale. But now a report has surfaced, which reveals that the new phone is required to install a software update during the initial booting, without which the device will be inoperable.
LG in its bid to avoid the repetition of 2012 Nexus 4 supply shortage fiasco, began early production of Nexus 5 and dispatched initial batches of devices with older OS versions before the software partner, Google could finish the new KitKat mobile OS software.
Now, the buyers who are about to receive the new Nexus 5 in few days time, will be asked to install a software update while setting up the phone. The update is said to be 138.9 MB in size (may vary in the other regions). Users can download via Wi-Fi or through data plan on the phone and it is being said that if the users try to bypass installation process, they will not be able to operate the phone at all, reported Clove, a U.K based retailer.
The new Nexus 5 sports 4.95-inch full HD IPS display with pixel density of 445 ppi (pixels per inch) and packs 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series quad-core processor, 450MHz Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM and comes in two storage capacities 16GB and 32GB (no microSD card support).
The new Google phone flaunts an improved 8.0-megapixel camera with LED flash, OIS (Optical Image Stabilizations), HDR+ (High Dynamic Range) features, and has the ability to take good quality picture under low-light conditions. In the front, it houses 1.3-megapixel camera.
The Google Play store which began selling the Nexus 5 (both black and white) on 31 October in almost a dozen countries has received overwhelming response from the people and almost all country editions have ran out of inventory. The new Google phone priced ₹28,999 (16GB) and ₹32,999 (32GB) is also expected to create same kind of storm in the sub-continent, when he phone is expected to hit Indian market soon.
