Newbie Sobhita Dhulipala isn't your regular Bollywood belle. In an industry where every fresh face wishes to catapult into stardom with a commercial entertainer, this leading lady has chosen a very different path. Crime-thriller "Raman Raghav 2.0" will see her essay, in her words, a "layered" woman named Simi.
In a quick chat with International Business Times, India, Sobhita revealed how she landed her first acting job and shared her on-set experiences.
Aspiring actors go through rounds of auditions before they are selected for a role. But it was a different deal with Sobhita.
"When I auditioned for it ("Raman Raghav 2.0"), I had no idea it was for an Anurag Kashyap film. Also, I was given the scene on the spot and it was very intense and hardcore. I had wrapped up my audition and was on my way home when I got a call saying sir (Anurag) wanted to see me. Then I went to the Phantom Films office and next thing I know, I was busy giving a look test, my measurements and dates," she elaborated.
The "scene" she is talking about wasn't an easy one. It was, in her words, a "deadly scene" where she had to portray emotions that were both intense and at the same time aggressive.
"It was a lot for someone like me, who is 22-23 and has to portray emotions that have so many layers and are deep," she said, adding that it's also liberating because an actor has to have a complete understanding of what his/ her character has gone through in the past and where their emotions stem from.
"Raman Raghav 2.0" is scheduled to arrive on June 24. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vicky Kaushal in key roles.
