Online marketplace Snapdeal launched a specialised website, named as Snapdeal Motors, to sell vehicles online.
Prospective buyers can visit Snapdeal Motors and place their orders. Like other company websites, customers can choose variants and book for testdrive also. The website also helps with documentation while buying.
To start with, Hero Motocorp motorcycles and Piaggio India commercial vehicles have been listed on the website. The website also listed Mahindra Rise, which will include two-wheeler and four-wheeler division, Maruti Suzuki and Datsun with "coming soon" tag. Many manufactures are expected to join the portfolio soon.
Snapdeal already sells Hero motorcycles in its core website. Hero MotoCorp had clocked sales of 1 lakh motorcycles and scooters online, according to a Business Standard report.
Snapdeal experimented with online booking of vehicles last year when the Delhi-based online marketplace accepted pre-bookings of third generation Mahindra Scorpio when the vehicle was launched in April 2014.
Recently, Chevrolet India tied up with Amazon India for accepting bookings of its latest SUV, the Trailblazer, for the first five days after the launch.
