The Season 3 finale of "Sleepy Hollow" ended on a shocker with Abbie Mills sacrificing herself to take down Pandora. This means, the character essayed by Nicole Beharie will not be making a return if the series is renewed for a fourth season.
Understandably, fans aren't pleased. Twitter is flooded with reactions from fans who blame the writers for torching an entire fan base with the finale.
They also feel that Beharie's character should have received a better treatment than death, as getting rid of her made her "subservient to Crane."

Many things frustrated me about the #SleepyHollow finale, but the worst was the implication that this was just Crane's story all along.

The blatant racism & sexism of reducing Abbie to some submissive plot device to prop up Crane sickens me #SleepyHollow @SleepyHollowFOX — Jaz (@JazzyBonesJones) April 9, 2016
Convenient that #SleepyHollow continued to bait us with romantic #Ichabbie when they knew Nicole was leaving. I'm so disgusted by this show.

Addressing the shocking season finale, producers 20th Century Fox Television and showrunner Clifton Campbell told The Hollywood Reporter that "Sleepy Hollow" is known for its shocking finales and that it was a bold move for the show.
"We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we've seen onscreen," the producers said in a statement. "We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing season four, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore," the statement read.
Revealing the reason why she left the show, Beharie told TVLine that there was nothing left for Abbie to do. She also thanked her fellow cast members and crew for their tremendous support, and added she's excited to see what the show has in future.
