Skoda India has launched a more affordable variant of its flagship sedan, the Superb. Christened as Corporate Edition, the new variant is priced at Rs 23.49 lakh (ex-showroom) which is around Rs 2.1 lakh cheaper than the base Style variant.
However, there is a catch. The Corporate Edition is currently being offered only to existing Skoda and Volkswagen car owners who want to upgrade to a premium sedan. Essentially, you should be a current owner of the Rapid, Octavia, Vento or Jetta models to buy the Super Corporate edition.
What makes Skoda Superb Corporate Edition special? Apart from the obvious price advantage of over Rs 2 lakh, the new edition offers pretty much everything the Style variant offers. These include 17-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlamps with DRLs, LED tail lamps, and chrome grille on the exterior. The car is offered only in Candy White colour option.
On the inside, the Superb Corporate edition gets stone beige leather upholstery, panoramic electric sunroof, 12-way power seat for driver and memory function. It also comes with touchscreen infotainment system, 8 speaker setup with audio control on the steering wheel, climate control and others. The sedan also boasts hill hold control, electronic stability control traction control, ABS with EBS and 8 airbags.
Skoda India will offer the Superb Corporate edition only with 1.8-litre petrol engine mated to six-speed manual transmission. The turbo-petrol motor will develop 178bhp at 4000-6000rpm and peak torque of 320Nm at 1450-3900rpm.
Skoda will analyse the response for the Corporate Edition with Volkswagen group customers in the first stage. If it garners a positive response, buyers are likely to purchase this variant at a later stage.
Skoda Superb currently goes up against the Volkswagen Passat and Toyota Camry in India.
