Following the success of ZenFone 2, ASUS has launched another smartphone at Computex 2015 event in Taiwan on Monday. Though the ZenFone Selfie boasts similar design language and a specification display as that of ZenFone 2, the latest smartphone features a few key changes so that it will go well with the trend.
Here are six reasons why we think ZenFone Selfie can bring similar success to the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer.
Front Camera
ZenFone Selfie will have 13mp rear and front cameras, hence justifying the name it has been given. With an aperture of f/2.2, the front camera would be decent enough to impress the selfie-loving generation.
Ensuring the success, ASUS has included ZenUI Beautification mode, a feature for enhancing live digital cosmetics. ZenFone Selfie also has Selfie Panorama mode, which exploits ZenFone Selfie's f/2.2-aperture front lens and 88-degree field of view to capture panoramic selfies of up to 140 degrees. The front sensor features 24mm wide angle, 5-prism Largan lens and Toshiba 1/3.2-inch sensor.
Laser Auto-Focus
Apart from featuring the huge front camera sensor, ASUS has also added a new feature for better and accurate focusing on the images. Dubbed as Laser Auto-Focus, the feature uses a laser beam for clicking quick pictures even under challenging lighting conditions. The same feature can be visible in the much-expensive LG G3 and LG G4 smartphones.
Colour Options
Unlike other mid-budget smartphones, the ZenFone Selfie will be available in Chic Pink, Aqua Blue, Pure White, Glamour Red, Osmium Black, Sheer Gold and Glacier colour options. The wide ranges of colour variants are definite to impress the fashion-conscious consumers.
Pricing
Noticing the ZenFone series pricing policy, anyone can easily speculate that the ZenFone Selfie will be priced between budget to mid-budget range. The ZenFone 2's 4GB+ 32GB variant is currently available at ₹19,999 and the lowest edition is priced at ₹12,999. By comparing the features and ASUS pricing trend, we assume the price of ZenFone Selfie would be between ₹13,000-₹17,000.
Gorilla Glass 4
Unlike other smartphones available in the market (apart from the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge), the ZenFone Selfie comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protecting the display from unintentional scratches and smudges. For the feature, ZenFone Selfie would compete shoulder to shoulder even with the OnePlus One.
Specs
The ZenFone Selfie boasts a 5.5-inch display with TruVivid Technology and offers 1,080x1,920 pixel resolution. Powered by a Snapdragon 615 SoC, the ZenFone Selfie will be available in two RAM and storage edition. The 2GB RAM edition will come with 16GB storage, while the 3GB RAM edition will pair 32GB of storage. Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the ZenFone Selfie features a 3,000mAh battery.
Considering the pricing assumption, we believe the latest ZenFone Selfie will break all previous success records of ASUS ZenFone and would make them another key player in the mid-budget smartphone market.
