Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rohit Shetty's magic has worked at the box office. The opening day box office collection of "Singham Returns" has shattered the record of Salman Khan's "Kick".
"Singham Returns" opened on a humongous note at the domestic box office on Independence Day. Not only has it emerged as the highest opener of 2014, the opening day earning of "Singham Returns" is highest ever for Devgn.
"Singham Returns" was released in lesser screens compared to "Kick", but the film benefitted from the Independence Day holiday on Friday, raking in more than ₹30 crore.

"It's time to start the day with SUPER news. #SinghamReturns starts with a big roar. Collects ₹ 30 cr [+/-] on Fri, as per *early trends*," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, adding: "#SinghamReturns overtakes #Kick [₹ 26.40 cr; pre-Eid] and emerges BIGGEST OPENER OF 2014 [so far]. Early trends."
The film opened to over 4000 screens worldwide, which includes 3600 screens in India and 410 screens in overseas market, while "Kick" India screen count was more than 4000.
The advance booking received phenomenal response and the morning show occupancy was massive. The film was expected to open well in Mumbai, Pune, National Capital Region (NCR) and Hyderabad region. But surprisingly, it had a terrific start in Rajasthan, CP Berar and CI circuits as well, Box Office India reported.
"Singham Returns" shattered the records of Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3", Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" and Salman's "Ek Tha Tiger" in Rajasthan, CP Berar and CI circuits.
With more than ₹30 crore income, the film has gained the fourth spot in the top opening day earnings list.
The film has also opened on a huge note in overseas market. The film was released in UAE-GCC region on Thursday and from there it raked in ₹1.24 crore.
