In its opening week, the film fared in a superb collection from more than 3,600 screens in India. As Monday was a holiday, the film's collection remained rock steady during the extended weekend.
The box office income started to fall only after Monday, but the drop was minimal. However, the film managed to take its total to more than ₹100 crore before completing first week.
Beats "Holiday", "Ek Villain" and "2 States"
Within seven days, the Rohit Shetty directorial broke the lifetime business records of other films released this year and last year.
Akshay Kumar's "Holiday" (₹112.18 crore), Sidharth Malhotra's "Ek Villian" (₹105.62 crore) and Arjun Kapoor's "2 States" (₹102.13 crore) were ahead of "Singham Returns" but after the first week run, Devgn's film has pushed down all the three films in the box office chart.
Shetty's film also fetched in more than Ranbir Kapoor's "Barfi!" (₹112.15 crore) released in 2012 and Farhan Akhtar's "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" (₹108.93 crore) released last year.
The next target that the film is set to achieve is to beat "Jai Ho" (₹116 crore) total and become the second highest grosser. To beat "Jai Ho", it requires only ₹4 crore and is expected to fetch in that amount by second Saturday.
The film's collections might slow down in the second week due to three new releases, including Rani Mukherji's "Mardaani".
But if it continues its dream run at the box office, then it will soon enter the ₹200 crore club or beat Khan's "Kick" domestic record.
