If you are upset that your Android handset is not upgradeable to Google's latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, here's an option to get a similar UI easily. Nova Launcher has updated its Android application to bring the overhauled Material Design UI to handsets running Android 4.1 and above. Simply by downloading the app from Google Play Store for free, users of non-upgradeable Android phones can get identical features and changes seen in the Lollipop version of Google's Android OS.
Nova Launcher now comes with host of new features and animations to give your Android smartphone a new look. Everything from new icons to wallpapers are now included in the updated Nova Launcher. According to the change-log listed in the app's description in Google Play Store, the Material Deign is applied to all Settings screens and dialogs. The animations are matched to Google's latest UI, which is well-received by users and critics alike.
In addition, the launcher also features a new Edit Shortcut dialog that matches to the colours of the redesigned icons. As for the individual icon layouts, users can change the size and the font on both home screen and app drawer. Nova also added new Widget Search feature, new grouped Widget drawer and also includes support for Android for Work.
Most importantly, the supported OS for the updated Nova Launcher is Android 4.1, which gives users the freedom to get the new layout without having to root or upgrading your handset to get the latest OS.
Nova Launcher is available as a free download from Google Play Store but requires users to pay up Rs. 310 to get the Prime version.
Even without the Material Design upgrade, Nova remains one of the most popular third party app launchers for Android smartphones. It offers extreme customizations, such as animated scrolls, Widgets in Dock, scrollable dock, colour controls and more.
