While Shah Rukh Khan's Zero was already struggling at the box office, the release of Simmba (Simba) further shrank the former's collection.
Zero has had a good start at the Indian box office with a collection of Rs 19.35 crore at the domestic market. However, owing to mostly negative reviews, the movie started to witness downfall in the first weekend itself.
Zero had collected Rs 17 crore on Saturday and Rs 18.25 crore on Sunday, taking its first-weekend collection to Rs 54.60 crore. The film suffered a sharp decline in earning as the weekdays started. Zero collected Rs 8.50 crore on Monday, followed by a jump in business on Tuesday (Christmas holiday).
However, the movie started to sink from day 6, and with the release and thunderous performance of Simmba at the box office, Zero has now almost completely at the verge of dying at the ticket counters.
The Ranveer Singh starrer started off with a collection of Rs 20.72 crore on opening day, and its earning increased much on Saturday. While Simmba's earning saw a rise, Zero's business sank down on the second weekend itself. SRK's movie reportedly collected Rs 1 crore (approximately) on day 9, taking its collection to around Rs 86 crore. Considering the current scenario, Zero is not likely to reach the Rs 100 crore mark even.
Having been made with a budget of Rs 200 crore, Zero was one of the most anticipated movies of 2018, but its box office journey remained very disappointing. On the other side, Simmba arrived as a mass entertainer and won audience's applause not just in single screens but also in multiplexes.
The action drama is being expected to cross Rs 100 crore by the end of Tuesday, and with no other big release this Friday, Simmba is likely to dominate the box office in the coming days.
