Ranveer Singh's Simmba (Simba) has completed its first weekend at the box office with excellent collection. The movie conveniently crossed Rs 50 crore mark by the end of day 2 (Sunday).
Simmba has had a superb opening day box office collection of Rs 20.72 crore. With strong word of mouth, the film witnessed a hike in its earning on Saturday as the movie had collected Rs 23.33 crore on second day.
The action drama needed just Rs 6 crore to cross the first milestone, which the movie easily did on Sunday. With a screen count of 4,020 across India, Simmba collected Rs 31.06 crore on day 3 at the domestic market, taking its earning to around Rs 75.11 crore.
"#Simmba sets the BO on on Day 3... Has a fantastic weekend... Growth on Day 3 [vis-à-vis Day 2]: 33.13%... Should record solid numbers today [31 Dec] and tomorrow [1 Jan]... Fri 20.72 cr, Sat 23.33 cr, Sun 31.06 cr. Total: ₹ 75.11 cr. India biz," Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Simmba has been dominating the box office since its first day, and it ended the first weekend with flying colours. It will be interesting to see if Simmba is able to pass the Monday test, and maintain the momentum over the weekdays.
Nonetheless, considering the current trend, the movie might cross Rs 100 crore mark in next two days. With no other big release and Zero almost dying at the ticket counters, Simmba has all the chances to continue the impressive box office run in coming days as well.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, Simmba is a remake of Tamil film Temper that featured Jr NTR. Although the storyline is same, the director brought some changes in the Hindi movie. Apart from Ranveer, Simmba also features Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood.
