Rohit Shetty's Simmba (Simba) completed its second day at the box office with bigger collection than the opening day earning.
Starring Ranveer Singh, Simmba has had an excellent box office collection of Rs 20.72 crore on Friday, making it Ranveer's highest opening day grosser. With strong word of mouth and positive reviews, the movie witnessed good hike in its business on day 2.
Simmba witnessed around 25 percent increase in occupancy during morning and afternoon shows on Saturday as compared to opening day. The occupancy rose much more during the evening shows, registering a huge second day earning at the domestic market.
Having been released on 4,020 screens across India, Simmba collected Rs 23.33 crore at the Indian box office on day 2, taking its total close to Rs 50 crore.
"#Simmba roars on Day 2... While Mumbai circuit is exceptional, the other circuits that were slightly low on Day 1 have also picked up... Growth on Day 2 [vis-à-vis Day 1]: 12.60%... Expected to score big numbers today... Fri 20.72 cr, Sat 23.33 cr. Total: ₹ 44.05 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
While Simmba has been going almost houseful in single screen theatres, the movie has also been witnessing major footfalls in multiplexes.
The action drama managed to create huge hype around it, and positive reviews from critics further gave a boost to its collection. A lot of positive things are also being said about the movie on social media.
Being a solo release and Shah Rukh Khan's Zero almost dying at the box office, Simmba is likely to witness further jump in its earning on Sunday. Directed by Shetty, Simmba also features Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood among others. Also, it has special appearances by Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar.
