Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba (Simba) has had a fabulous extended weekend at the box office with its collection almost reaching Rs 124 crore in just five days of its release. However, with the end of holiday season on Wednesday, the movie witnessed a sharp decline in earning on day 6.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, Simmba has had an excellent start at the box office with a collection of Rs 20.72 crore, making it Ranveer's highest ever opening day grossing movie.
With strong word of mouth, the film witnessed good jump in business over the weekend, making Rs 23.33 crore on Saturday and Rs 31.06 crore on Sunday. Surprisingly, Simmba managed to rake in huge numbers on Monday as well.
The movie had collected Rs 21.24 crore on Monday, and again witnessed good hike on Tuesday (New Year holiday). It earned Rs 28.19 crore on Tuesday, taking its 5 days total collection to Rs 124.54 crore at the Indian box office.
With end of holiday season and the ticket prices coming down, Simmba suffered a dip in its collection on Wednesday, but still managed to earn in double digits. The action drama collected Rs 14.49 crore at the domestic market on day 6, taking total nett domestic earning to Rs 139.03 crore.
"#Simmba is a SMASH HIT... Continues to collect in double digits, even after New Year celebrations have ended... This one is not slowing down soon... Fri 20.72 cr, Sat 23.33 cr, Sun 31.06 cr, Mon 21.24 cr, Tue 28.19 cr, Wed 14.49 cr. Total: ₹ 139.03 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Being a solo release, and Zero almost dying at the commercial circuits, Simmba has been dominating the box office, and is likely to continue the winning streak in coming days as well.
It is being expected that Simmba will cross Rs 200 crore mark by the end of its second weekend, which seems to be quite possible, considering its current pace. The film also features Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood, extended cameo of Ajay Devgn, and special appearance by Akshay Kumar.
