Silambarasan has got a much-needed hit as his latest movie Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has continued to perform well at the box office. Despite the demonetisation effect, the latest Tamil movie has kept the cash registers ringing at the collection centres.
Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has enjoyed good occupancy rates in theatres in Tamil Nadu in its second weekend. With no movies giving a serious competition, the Simbu-starrer apparently remained the first choice to watch the movies for the cine-goers. As a result, it has done well in many centres and mainly in Chennai and the Chengalpet regions.
In 10 days, the total collection of Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has reportedly crossed over Rs 20-crore mark, which is a very big number when the film industry is badly hit by the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
In an industry where inflated box office numbers are declared to create hype around the films, the makers of Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada have decided to claim that they were happy with the collections instead of tagging it as a 'hit' movie or the 'blockbuster' on the promotional materials.
"Disastrous flop movies are mentioning as blockbusters, what would u call #AYM ?.. Better to say v are happy than mentioning verdict. [sic]" Simbu through his representative posted on Twitter.
Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is a romantic-action movie that has drawn the attention of youths and family audience. It has garnered positive reviews from the critics and viewers for its good story and power-packed performance of Simbu and Manjima Mohan.
With this project, Simbu is part of a successful film at the box office after a gap of six years. His last major hit was Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa way back in 2010 which was again the creation of Gautham Menon.
