Simbu may have been going through a rough patch, but here is something to cheer him up. The actor has amassed over 1 million followers on Twitter, which is quite an achievement for a Kollywood actor.
Silambarasan joined Twitter in 2011 and was active on the micro-blogging site until recently. He then decided to stay away from the site to concentrate on his career a few months ago. Since then, a member from his fan club has been handling his account.
The actor on Monday, 21 December, crossed 1 million followers count on Twitter. Thanking his fans, the administrator of the account posted, "Thanks to the followers, Fans & #Tamil Cinema lovers for the 1 Million followers count. Neenga Illaama Naan Illaa ! #STR."
This has come at a time when Simbu is courting controversy over the 'beep' song. The actor and Anirudh Ravichander have been dragged into the controversy over the track, which has objectionable lyrics targeted at women.
It is said to be private joke written, composed and sung by Simbu and Anirudh Ravichander. It was recorded two years ago, but someone leaked the number recently, putting both the celebrities into trouble.
Various women organisations have criticised Simbu and Anirudh and cases have also been filed against them. Meanwhile, Simbu has approached the Madras High Court for anticipatory bail.
"Those songs are in a scratch rough format without complete lyrics and in an incomplete version which are not intended to be used for public listening. I have exclusive rights over such songs and no third party has got any right to infringe my privacy," The Hindu quoted Simbu as saying.
