Actor Sidhartha Siva's directorial venture "Ain", which won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam, was released in theatres on Friday, 25 September.
Considering the film does not feature any superstars and as big-budget movies have hit theatres in the state on the occasion of Bakr Eid, "Ain" has been released in only three theatres in Kerala.
The film, which has also won Padmarajan Puraskaram and Kerala state award for the best story, is being screened at Thiruvananthapuram's Nila Theatre at 10 am, Thrissur's Sri Theatre at 2.30 pm and Kozhikode's Kairali Theatre at 6 pm and 9 pm.
Sidhartha has also informed his fans about the release of "Ain" through a Facebook post.
"Ain will be released tommorrow, but not in many theatres. Even though many had promised to release it in other theatres due to big budget films, "Ain" has hit a roadblock. I believe at least some of you will watch the film, it is the collective effort of some friends. A big thanks to each and everyone who have helped and wished us. There isn't any advertisements about the film in newpapers, TV or radio, but it is only promoted through some posters, Facebook and Whatsapp posts," Sidhartha posted on his Facebook page on Thursday.
"Ain" features Musthafa and Rachana Narayanankutty in the lead roles. The characters belong to a Muslim household in Malabar. The film revolves around a lazy but innocent Muslim man who escapes to Mangalore after witnessing a murder.
Meanwhile, some celebrities like Kunchacko Boban, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Krishna Prabha have come forward, asking fans to support the National Award-winning film.
"All the best my dear brother... May good films do well.... And God be with u, "Jamna Pyari" actor Kunchacko wished Sidhartha.
"All the best Sidhartha. Ain from today," Vineeth also shared the "Ain" director's Facebook post and wished him.
"I have a request to all, a small movie is releasing today which is a creative work by Sidhartha Siva named 'AIN'.. Please do watch the movie also," actress Krisha of "Life of Josutty" fame shared on her Facebook page.
