Siddharth has slammed Jack & Jones ad featuring Ranveer Singh. The latest billboard of the clothing brand has been criticised for its sexism.
In the billboard, a woman is seen slung on Ranveer Singh's shoulder with a caption – don't hold back. Take your work home. To make the matter worse, an elevator operator is seen grinning in the background. This has drawn flak from netizens, who raised voice against misogyny and sexism.
Reacting to the ad, Siddharth tweeted, "A new low for women's rights in the workplace in India. What were they thinking? #Fail. [sic]" Realising that the commercial was drawing negative comments, Jack & Jones decided to withdraw the ad with immediate effect.
"We didn't intend to offend anyone with one of our billboards. #NOTHOLDINGBACK and withdrawing it immediately," the company apologised in the tweet. Also, it has pulled off over 10 hoardings from various parts of the country.
It may be recalled that Siddharth had earlier spoken against the glorification of stalking in Tamil cinema. The actor had admitted that visual medium has a huge impact on the common man and had slammed such portrayals in films.
