Siblings in the United States will celebrate the special bond shared with one's brothers and sisters on the occasion of Siblings' Day on Friday, in the spirit of other days celebrating familial relationships, such as Mother's Day and Father's Day.
The idea of a National Siblings' Day was promoted by New Yorker Claudia Evart, who lost her two siblings.
10 April marks the birthday of Evart's late sister Lisette, according to the website of her organisation, Siblings' Day Foundation.
Evart set up the Siblings' Day Foundation in 1997, and since then, Siblings' Day has come to be marked across most states in America.
