Sundar C has created history by launching the first look of his forthcoming film Sangamithra at Cannes Film Festival, a first of its kind in Tamil cinema. The team spearheaded by the director and lead stars like Jayam Ravi, Shruti Haasan and Arya were in France unveil the first look of the multilingual flick.
Shruti Haasan, two-time Oscar Award winner AR Rahman, Sundar C, Arya and Jayam Ravi will walk the red carpet on the opening night on Wednesday, May 18. The movie is bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Films.
On the lines of the Baahubali series, which has become the all-time biggest hit at the box office in India, the makers are trying to tell the story of Sangamithra to national and international audience. It will be simultaneously made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, and will also be dubbed in many other languages.
The makers, without revealing the exact figure, had declared earlier that Sangamithra will be made with a never before heard budget in Indian cinema. It is believed that the budget is higher than SS Rajamouli's Baahubali series and Shankar's 2.0 aka Enthiran 2.

The pre-production work kick-started long ago in foreign countries, including in Denmark and the UK.
Director Sundar C is all set to bring the story of Sangamithra, the eldest daughter of Emperor Ashoka, to the silver screen. It is a historical tale set in the 8th century that is about a brave and beautiful woman who fights to save her kingdom. The makers will adopt high-end VFXs to make it visually extravagant.
