Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut-starrer "Ungli" has an added flavour to their film -- a dance number titled "Dance Basanti" featuring Shraddha Kapoor.
Shraddha, who was last seen in "Haider", has completely transformed herself from the de-glam avatar in the Shahid Kapoor-starrer to a glamorous item girl in Karan Johar production venture "Ungli".
Penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the peppy dance number unveiled on Tuesday 28 October has been choreographed by Bosco-Caesar. Vishal Dadlani and Anushka Manchanda have lent their voices to the song.
The track starts with Shraddha's sensuous entry in a silver dress. The song later has Hashmi joining the gorgeous lady on the dance floor, and together they groove to the catchy number "Dance Basanti".
Speaking about the dance number, the "Ek Villain" actress told IANS: "I don't know whether to call it an item song or a promotional song, but yes, it's a very different thing that I am doing."
"Karan offered me the song and said: 'You have never been seen like this before. It's a very glamorous song.' So all that excited me and I said yes to it. The moment I heard the song, I was even more excited as it's such a catchy song," she added.
When asked if the song has any connection with the Basanti from iconic film "Sholay", the "Aashiqui 2" actress said: "I guess, it's definitely a take from original Basanti. It's a modern-day twist. I can't compare myself with Hema Malini. She is the original legendary Basanti."
Directed by Rensil D'Silva, "Ungli" features an ensemble cast, including Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda, Angad Bedi, Neil Bhoopalam and Sanjay Dutt. The film will hit the theatres on 28 November 2014.
Meanwhile, Shraddha is garnering a lot of appreciation for her role in the intense tragic drama "Haider" opposite Shahid, which is running successfully in threatres.
