Action film, "Shootout at Wadala" based on the book "Dongri to Dubai" written by journalist Hussain Zaidi, had a terrific start at the box office on the first day.
The film made a collection of approximately ₹10.1 crore at the domestic box office on the day of its release. The film has emerged as one of the biggest openers this year after "Himmatwala" and "Race 2".
"Race 2" and "Himmatwala" raked in ₹15.12 crore and ₹12 crore respectively on the first day at domestic box offices.
The film had a terrific start across India and registered 60 to 70 percent occupancy at theaters. The film did better in the single screens than the multiplexes.
"#ShootoutAtWadala morning shows occupancy is 60% to 70%. Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Indore, parts of DelhiUP circuit... Very good! Fri ₹10.1 cr... Amongst the top openers of the year!" trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh said.
Also, the opening day collection at overseas market is superb. In the UK market "Shootout at Wadala" opened at 11 positions and in the US market too the film had a great start

The action and crime drama film is a sequel to 2007 film "Shootout at Lokhandwala". Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the sequel features John Abraham, Kangna Ranaut, Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, and Sonu Sood in the lead roles, and Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpai, Ronit Roy and Mahesh Manjrekar in supporting roles. The film has garnered positive reviews from critics calling it a great watch for all action movie-buffs.
