Bollywood action thriller "Shootout At Wadala" starring John Abraham, Kangna Ranaut and Anil Kapoor has collected over ₹45 crore in the first week at the domestic box office.
"Shootout At Wadala" hit the screens on 3 May and has raked in around ₹45 to ₹46 crore, making it Bollywood's first A-certified movie to collect such a huge amount in the first week of release.
"#ShootoutAtWadala collected approx. ₹45 cr - 46 cr nett in Week 1. Remarkable!" trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The overseas collection of the film is yet to be determined.
Earlier on Friday, Adarsh had tweeted that the film's collections are estimated to cross ₹45 crores. "As per *early estimates* #ShootoutAtWadala crosses ₹45 cr mark in Week 1. Excellent!"
"Shootout At Wadala", which opened with a bang at the domestic and international centres, minted ₹30.7 crore nett in its opening weekend in India alone. The film maintained its pace and managed to rake in approximately ₹15 crore over the past four days.
The Sanjay Gupta directed flick had collected approximately ₹4.88 crore at international centres, which is a high figure considering the "A" certification which usually works against a film releasing abroad. The film has already recovered the cost of production which included ₹32 crore plus print and advertising budget of around ₹15 crore.
Apart from John, Kangna and Anil, film also stars Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood. Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpai, Ronit Roy and Mahesh Manjrekar appear in supporting roles.
Inspired by Hussain Zaidi's book "Dongri to Dubai", "Shootout At Wadala" is based on Mumbai police's first registered encounter killing of gangster Manya Surve.
