The shooting of Lijo Jose Pellissery's much talked film "Double Barrel" began in Kochi. The story is based on the underworld and is said to be a comedy thriller.
The film stars Prithviraj, Fahadh Faasil and Indrajith in the lead. This is the first time the trio is coming together for a project. Fahadh and Indrajith have earlier done Lijo's "Amen" (2003) together and film will see Indrajith and Prithviraj coming together after Lal Jose's "Classmates" (2006).
Not much regarding the star cast is revealed yet. There are rumours that the film will have a huge star cast of Asif Ali, Isha Sherwani, Swathi Reddy, Sunny Wayne, Vijay Babu, Manu, Anil Murali, Sahid Yahiya, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Parvathi Menon and Sherrin Varghese, but no confirmation regarding this has come yet. It is said that Goa will be the film's major shooting location.
Meanwhile, the director had earlier announced a film titled "Antichrist." There have been many speculations regarding this film that it will be made in Hindi, which will be directed by Santhosh Sivan. Later, Lijo announced that the film will be done in a large scale with the help of foreign producers in two languages. Now, he also announced his new production "Double Barrel."
Lijo has directed films like "Nayakan" (2010), "City of God" (2011) and "Amen" (2013). It was "Amen," which cemented Lijo's position in the industry as a commercially viable director. "Amen" is a romantic musical satire starring Fahadh Faasil, Indrajith, Swathi Reddy, Natasha Shagal and Rachana Narayanankutty in the lead. The film revolved around the events happened in a village named Kumarangiri with the arrival of a young priest Vincent Vattoli (played by Indrajith). The film was well received by the critics as well as the audience. It became a commercial success in the box office by grossing ₹8.12 crore.
The music of "Double Barrel" is composed by Prashanth Pillai, who had done music for Lijo's earlier films and the cinematography will be handled by Abhinandhan Ramanujan. The film is produced jointly by August Cinemas Pvt Ltd and Amen Movie Monastery.
