The reputation of a killer earned by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in the recent years is unlikely to get erased from people's minds after a horrific accident was captured on a CCTV camera. A state-run bus rammed into a two-wheeler at around 3.40 pm on Tuesday, June 14, killing one on the spot and leaving the another severely injured.
The speeding KSRTC bus was on its way to Mysuru from Periyapatanna when the driver tried to prevent hitting a bike that was going in front, and in the process veered towards the right side, hitting a two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction. The accident happened in Hunsur. As a result of the impact, the rider and the pillion rider were thrown off the vehicle.
A cyclist narrowly escaped getting mowing down. Everything happened in a matter of seconds, eyewitnesses told TV channels. The deceased has been identified as Manjunath, 35, and the injured biker is Ravikumar. The two residents of Magali in Piriyapatna taluk were travelling to KR Nagar to attend a fair.
Ravikumar is said to have sustained multiple injuries.
A case was registered under Section 304 (A) (death caused due to negligent driving) of the Indian Penal Code. The driver has been taken into police custody.
In the recent years, several accidents involving KSRTC buses have been reported. In most cases, the drivers have been found to be at fault due to negligent driving.
