Television heartthrob Barun Sobti recently made news when reports of the actor returning to the small screens after "Iss Pyaar ko Kya Naam Doon" surfaced. Barun has been roped in as the lead in an upcoming untitled show, which will be aired on Zee TV.
According to The Times of India, the makers have reportedly roped in Shivani Tomar of "Pavitra Rista" fame to play Barun's love interest on the show. The show would be a thriller based finite series, produced by BBC.
Earlier, there were reports that Krishna Mukherjee of "Jhalli Angali" fame was considered for the role. But the deal didn't materialise and the role went to Shivani.
It has been reported earlier that the thriller show would revolve around a cop and a con woman. While Barun would play the role of a cop, it is yet to be revealed if Shivani would play the role of a con woman.
In other news, Barun recently visited Istanbul to promote his highly popular show "Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon." The actor was delighted that the show, which is titled "Bir Garip Ask" in Turkish, is being loved by the audience.
"I am delighted that the series is being aired in Turkey. I have been hearing that the show is being loved as much as the local Turkish dramas. It's quite amazing that the show has aired in more than 40 countries and has done extremely well everywhere," Barun said in a statement, IANS reports.
"We have always known deep inside that the Star India dramas will work in Turkey since they present the same social and moral values which are treasured by the Turkish society. There is a strong focus on family values, which is important both in Turkey and India," Christina Vlahova, CEO of Intellecta Srl, which broadcasts Indian TV shows to TV stations around the world, said.
