Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray, who was critically since the last few days, died at his residence in Mumbai on Saturday.
Bal Thackeray suffered a cardiac arrest and doctors failed to revive him.
Thackeray's doctor Jaleel Parkar announced his demise saying he breathed his last at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday.
"He had cardiac arrest and we could not revive him despite efforts," said Dr. Parker to the media outside the Shiv Sena founder's residence Matoshree.
Shiv Sena said that the public can pay tribute to the passed leader tomorrow at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai, where the body will be kept for there for around three hours after which the body will be cremated at 3 p.m. after conducting the final rites.
Security had been beefed up in Mumbai much before the announcement of his demise.
Condolences are pouring in from different parts of the country and abroad over the demise of the Sena patriarch.
