Director Shirish Kunder has received much appreciation for his recently release short film "Kriti." However, one Nepali film-maker has come up alleging that "Kriti" has been copied from his short film titled "BOB." However, Shirish has denied the allegations and claimed that he has shot "Kriti" before "BOB" was made available for public viewing.
The Nepali film-maker named Aneel Neupane took to Facebook and made a long post highlighting about the similarities between "Kriti" and "BOB." Aneel has said that he had created the movie in October 2015 and had uploaded it on Vimeo. He had later uploaded it on YouYube on May 12, 2016.
While, "BOB" has till date earned just around 3, 000 views, "Kriti," starring Manoj Bajpayee, Radhika Apte and Neha Sharma, has received more than 1 million views in just one day.
The Nepali director expressed his anger at his story being allegedly stolen. He said: "I'm angry because we didn't even have lunch money while shooting 'BOB', and a spot boy for 'Kriti' probably made more money than 'BOB's entire budget. My team and I didn't work our asses off just so some rich dude from India could turn it into this and get away with it. That's just not fair."
He also expressed his inhibitions at taking legal course against Shirish and his team as he feels that he does not have the financial assistance to do it. Check the complete Facebook post below:
Meanwhile, Shirish also took to Twitter and asserted that he has made "Kriti" before "BOB" was uploaded on YouTube.
Both "Kriti" and "BOB" indeed have striking similarities in terms of content, it is still not certain if Shirish's short film was actually copied from the Nepali movie. Check the two short films below and decided if they are similar.
