Kalyan Ram's Telugu film "Sher" has opened to poor response at the box office. Mallikarjun has directed the action entertainer, which stars Kalyan Ram and Sonal Chauhan in lead roles and Vikramjeet Virk in supporting role.
"Sher" was expected to have a good start as it features Kalyan Ram in lead role, but the film opened to below average response.
Kalyan Ram's film was released in around 620 screens worldwide, including 460 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, over 60 screens in Karnataka, over 35 screens in other parts of India and over 60 screens in international markets, according to Andhra Box Office.
The hype surrounding the film's release was good, but it failed to generate the occupancy on day one in theatres. "Sher" was expected to break the record of Kalyan's last film "Pataas", but due to low occupancy on day one, the film failed to do so.
As per early reports, the film has earned Rs 1.2 crore from the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana box office on its opening day. "Sher" has failed to beat the opening day box office collection record of "Pataas".
Kalyan Ram's "Pataas" was released in January and it earned Rs 1.7 crore on first day.
"Sher" received mixed reviews from critics as well as audiences. The mixed reviews from premier shows affected the box office income on Friday.
And looks like the film will have an average opening weekend box office collection as the word of mouth is not encouraging.
