Sanjeev Khanna, ex-husband of Indrani Mukherjea and co-accused in the high-profile Sheena Bora murder case, was on Tuesday sent to judicial custody till 21 September by a Mumbai court.
The Mumbai's Bandra court had on Monday sent Indrani and her former driver Shyamvar Rai to 14-day judicial custody, as sought by special public prosecutor Vaibhav Bhagade. However, Khanna could not be produced as he was taken to Kolkata in connection with the probe into the murder case.
Earlier, Khanna's lawyer had filed an application in the court that he was illegally detained for over 24 hours by the police and taken to Kolkata in the name of investigation.
All the three accused -- Indrani, Khanna and Rai -- were arrested late last month on the charges of murdering Sheena and disposing of her body in a Raigad forest in April 2012.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, who has been investigating the Sheena Bora murder case, was replaced by senior officer Javed Ahmed.
However, Maria will continue to head the ongoing probe into Sheena's murder case till the investigation is over.
