Piqued at media reports that the Delhi police warned him for not giving proper answers to questions posed to him in the ongoing probe into his wife's mysterious death, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has said such reports are "lies" aimed at boosting ratings.
He expressed his anger in a series of tweets:
Revolted by the lies in the media about me, esp on Kerala channels. Stories are concocted &attributed to police sources without any basis

He then went on to add that India needs a paradigm shift in journalism.
Our country needs better &more honest journalism. Not 1 that will broadcast or publish any lie so long as it will titillate &increase TRPs.

Tharoor is being questioned as part of the probe by a special investigation team (SIT) of the Delhi police to investigate the cause of his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death in January last year.
He clarified his position, saying: "If there is such an issue, they would have informed me first rather than going to media. All such reports are totally baseless as I am fully cooperating with the investigation."
Tharoor had come to Thiruvananthapuram on Friday to attend a programme in his home constituency. He was questioned both on Thursday and Friday by the special team of Delhi police.
The Delhi police filed a case of murder last month after medical reports confirmed that 51-year-old Sunanda Pushkar's death was unnatural and was due to poisoning, but did not name anybody as suspect.
Sunanda Pushkar's viscera samples have been sent to an FBI laboratory in the US since India does not have the requisite facilities to do appropriate analysis.
