Sharmila Tagore Clears Confusion on Saif-Kareena Wedding

After a lot of confusion about Saif and Kareena's wedding date and venue, here is some seemingly credible information on the biggest celebrity wedding of the year. 

Over the past few weeks, the rumor mill has churned out endless reports on the much-anticipated wedding. At the same time, several of the contrasting rumors eventually created a lot of confusion.

Thankfully, Saif's mother Sharmila Tagore cleared up the air, stating that the wedding will "definitely take place in October."

The yesteryears' actress once again confirmed that the wedding ceremonies will take place on Oct 16, but that the nikah may take place at a later date as per the couple's wishes.

"I am giving a warning to Saif. I am confirming that the wedding will take place on October 16," she told Mid Day. "If later on they want they can do the nikaah."

She even slammed the rumors about the wedding being postponed to December, asserting that, "As far as I know, it is still on 16th October." 

On the contrary, the chote Nawab said that the wedding date is not yet decided.

"I have not fixed a date for the wedding yet. It is going to be a year-end wedding," Saif Ali Khan said in a recent interview with Press Trust of India.

"The wedding is not happening in London for sure. Rest all details about the wedding I can't talk as it is our private matter. It is personal," he said.

Meanwhile, looking at the contrasting comments of both mother and son, it clearly appears that Tagore wants the duo to get married in October this year, while Saif is keen on a year-end wedding probably in December.

Earlier, it was reported that the couple will marry at the royal Pataudi Palace in Haryana. It was later said that the venue has been shifted to Mumbai, as per Kareena's father Randhir Kapoor's request.

Earlier in June, Tagore confirmed the wedding date, and divulged all the necessary details regarding the bride's costume, venues and a lot more. 

Though Saif and Bebo are still in denial mode, the ecstatic mother of the 41-year-old actor told a daily that she has already started the wedding preparations.

"I have told Saif, 'First shaadi, then the décor'. I have started booking the hotels but the guest list is still to be decided," she said.

Till now, the to-be-bride Kareena Kapoor has not confirmed anything so far, and has given a miss to marriage related questions during interviews and press conferences.

To clarify the confusion on the venue, a source close to the family told an entertainment daily that Saif's mother wanted the wedding to be held at Pataudi, since his late father Nawab Mansoor Ail Khan wanted the same.

On the other hand, it was reported that Bebo's parents wanted the wedding to be in Mumbai due to personal reasons.

"Most of their family and friends were in Mumbai. Beside Randhir's mother Mrs Krishna Raj Kapoor is unable to travel. So Randhir Kapoor requested Sharmila ji for a shift on Mumbai," the source said.

Sharmila Tagore also confirmed the same saying, "Saif Miyan is the busiest man on the planet. He wants to do the wedding in Pataudi but apparently Kareena's parents want it in Mumbai."

About the couple still keeping their marriage plans a hush-hush affair, the source explained, "It's the fear that the minute Kareena's wedding date is announced the producers would baulk at signing her. Kareena will first sign a slew of plum assignments to start post the wedding before the date is announced."
