Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg will on his first trip to India to celebrate the success of his historical drama film "Lincoln".
According to reports, the veteran director-producer will be in Mumbai to attend a party on 10 March. As the two-time Oscar winning "Lincoln" was co-produced by DreamWorks, in which Reliance ADA Group has a 50 percent stake, Anil Ambani is throwing a lavish party for Spielberg.
"Lincoln is produced by Reliance DreamWorks, which is helmed by Anil Ambani. Spielberg will be here on a four-day trip. He is coming to meet Anil and his wife, Tina Ambani," a source told Hindustan Times.
The party will be held at Ambani's residence in Colaba and several celebrities from Bollywood are invited.
According to the Times of India, Spielberg is expected to meet around 400 members of the Indian film industry besides the top-league producers, directors and actors. Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Rajkumar Hirani are among the others who are in the exclusives guest list.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who shares a great friendship with the Ambanis, is also expected to turn up at the event.
This is Spielberg's first international trip post the Academy Awards. The director-producer will be put up at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba.
"He (Spielberg) will be staying at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba. And from what his schedule looks like right now, he will only visit Mumbai. He doesn't have other travel plans," the source told HT.
"The Ambanis will give him a grand welcome. He's known to be close to them."
