Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's fairytale romance has hit a rough patch and apparently Shahid Kapoor is to blame. It's not infidelity this time, but the ego that has caused the relationship to fizzle out this time, publications reported.
Padukone insisted on getting Kapoor on board for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, to which Singh didn't take very kindly, Mid-Day reported. According to new developments, Kapoor has a meatier role than Singh and also quite a few intimate scenes with Padukone.
What really escalated the friction between the star couple (Padukone-Singh) was the leading lady's Twitter conversation with Kapoor, in which she used kiss emojis to thank the Udta Punjab star for congratulating her on the action-packed XXX: Return of Xander Cage trailer.
The tension among the Padmavati cast has risen considerably over the past few weeks. Padukone has insisted that the first look of the film feature her and Kapoor, which has made Singh very disappointed.
Last month, there were reports that Singh had refused to shoot for the film because Kapoor's role was re-written and given more screen-time than his. He demanded that Kapoor's role be cut down, but the makers didn't comply.
"Now, Bhansali has asked Deepika to talk to Ranveer and convince him to start the film. Because the film will not move if Ranveer doesn't come around," an insider told DNA.
The interesting bit is that the cold war between the two actors can go on for a little longer as the film doesn't need them immediately. The first schedule of Padmavati will begin with a song shoot featuring Padukone.
"Folk dancers from Rajasthan will be flown in for the song. They will be seen alongside Deepika as well as train her. The set at Mehboob studio, where the song will be shot, is almost ready," Mumbai Mirror quoted a source as saying.
