Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar have not yet made any announcement regarding lead actors in "Ram Lakhan" remake. But, the recent buzz is that Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh may be roped in for the project.
"Out of all the names being tossed for Lakhan's part, Ranveer was the first choice. Also, last year Anil Kapoor, who played Lakhan, had said that Ranveer was perfect for the role. As for Ram's character (originally played by Jackie Shroff) , it was decided that Shahid would be an ideal pick. The actors, however, have not signed on the dotted line," Mid-Day quoted a source as saying.
"The makers are looking for fresh faces to essay Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia's characters and the project is likely to go on floors by end of the year. Once everything is finalised, an official announcement will be made," the source added.
Earlier, Varun Dhawan's name was doing the rounds for "Ram Lakhan," but the actor had clarified on social media that he had not been offered the film. Shahid and Ranveer, who could be finalised in "Ram Lakhan," were in news for the lead roles for a long time. In fact, it was reported that Ranveer had turned down the offer because he didn't want to share screen space with another actor and also due to Rohit's last film "Dilwale," which turned out to be a flop.
Interestingly, Ranveer and Shahid are not the only names that have been associated with the remake. Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and Varun are some of the stars who were, at one point of time, being considered for the film.
After the announcement of Karan and Rohit's film by Dharma Productions in 2013, there has been no development in the project. There were reports that Rohit was still working on the script of "Ram Lakhan."
