After Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor will next be seen in Toilet Ek Prem Katha director Shree Narayan Singh's next movie – Batti Gul Meter Chalu. He will play a lawyer in the flick. But the interesting part is he will be seen as a 20-something in the movie.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is said to be a social-comedy drama. After playing an intense and powerful Maharawal Ratan Singh in Padmaavat, Shahid is now coming up with a lighter role for his next, which will have a strong social message.
Producer Prerna Arora told Mumbai Mirror about the movie and revealed some details about Shahid's character.
"Shahid plays a young local boy from Uttarakhand who is a diehard romantic," producer Prerna told the daily. "The costume designer duo has been working with artisans in villages of the North Indian state and sourcing fabrics locally to ensure authenticity. Shahid will be wearing lots of bright sweaters and jackets since the story unfolds in winter."
"Shahid is a terrific actor and has been spending hours every day getting each line and punctuation in his dialogue sheet right. Along with Shree, Siddharth and Garima, he has been adding his own humour to the character and constantly improvising. He's mastered the local dialect after undergoing training since the beginning of the year," Prerna said.
"Now, all Shahid requires is a young haircut and a clean-shaven, boyish look."
The movie is based on a faulty electricity bill. Shraddha Kapoor will be Shahid's heroine in the film. Talking about Shraddha's role, Prerna told Mumbai Mirror: "She's a bubbly girl and quite notorious in the first half of the film. Post interval, her character undergoes a transformation and with her behaviour, her look will also change."
Batti Gul Meter Chalu will go on floors in Uttarakhand on February 9. Apart from Shahid and Shraddha, Yami Gautam is also a part of the flick and she will play the role of a lawyer.
