Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Raees" and Salman Khan's "Sultan" have made headlines since the beginning due to the clash in box office. Recent buzz is "Sultan" will release during Eid and SRK has decided to postpone his film's release date.
"Shah Rukh's 'Raees' is not clashing with Salman's 'Sultan' after all. In fact, after what the clash of Shah Rukh's 'Dilwale' with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Bajirao Mastani' did to the former, Shah Rukh was opposed to the Eid clash. It was producer Ritesh Sidhwani who insisted they wouldn't budge," a reliable source told Deccan Chronicle.
Earlier, Ritesh said in a statement the film has been scheduled for release the same day. But, now it seems King Khan is not ready to take any risk with his upcoming movie.
"It's a sensible decision. Everyone knows Salman reigns the BO (Box Office) on Eid, as has been happening for the last three years. Which is why, the makers of 'Raees' have decided to shift the release date of the film to July 29. While the film is complete, they don't want to take any chances with Salman Khan, who is a huge draw on Eid," a trade source told DNA.
"In 2014, his 'Kick' had made over Rs 300 crore while last year 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' crossed the Rs 600-crore mark worldwide. The producers have till now denied the postponing of 'Raees' as they want to announce it before the trailer of 'Sultan,' which comes with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Fan' April 15," he added.
The makers of "Raees" are reportedly planning to lock horns with films like "Dishoom" or "Mohenjo Daro." Varun Dhawan's "Dishoom" is slated to hit the screens July 29, while Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro" and Akshay Kumar-starrer "Rustom" are already clashing Aug. 12 at the box office.
"The two dates they are looking at are July 29 and August 12. Now, the twist in the tale is the announcement over the weekend, that 'Mohenjo Daro' will release the same day as 'Rustom'," DNA quoted an insider as saying.
